Japanese bantams, first known as "Chabo", originated in South China, which is now Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia. The first color was red-brown with white and black birds appearing as sports from them. The breed is recognizable for their short body and legs that contrasts their large, upright tail. Black Tailed White Japanese bantam chicks are cream with light yellow heads. Some have a small black spot on top of the head. They have single combs and clean, yellow feet and legs. In adults, the head, hackle, front of neck, back, saddle, breast, body, stern and lower thigh plumage is white. The main tail is black white. The top two feathers of the female's main tail are black, laced with white and the coverts are black, laced with white. The wing shoulders, fronts, bows and coverts are white. The wing primaries are black, fringed with white. The wing secondary upper webs are black, heavily fringed with white while the exposed portion of the outer web forms an entirely white wing bar.
