Japanese bantams, first known as "Chabo", originated in South China, which is now Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia. The first color was red-brown with white and black birds appearing as sports from them. The breed is recognizable for their short body and legs that contrasts their large, upright tail. Black Tailed Buff Japanese bantam chicks are primarily buff or straw colored with some having brown streak on top of the head and brown streaks running down the back. They have single combs and clean, yellow feet and legs. In adults, the head, hackle, front of neck, back, breast, body, stern and lower thigh plumage is buff. The wing shoulders, fronts, bows and coverts are buff with some luster. The wing primaries and secondaries are black, fringed with buff. The male's main tail is black while the sickles and coverts are lustrous black, evenly laced with buff. The female's main tail is black with the top two feathers laced with buff and the coverts are black with buff lacing.

Our bantams are purebred and represent the breed and variety; however, we do not guarantee or represent that they are of show quality.
